DeadStick Utilities

Understand your storage. Stay in control. DeadStick Utilities is one Mac app with Smart Scan, Clean Up, Large Files, Duplicates, Storage, Apps, a read-only Mac Status screen and a Recovery holding area. You choose what to scan, nothing is selected for removal automatically, and you review each change before it happens.

How it works

Choose what to scan. See why each item appears. Review your selection, then move supported files to Recovery on their original volume. Restore or export held files before you decide whether to delete them permanently.

DeadStick Utilities has no background agent. It runs when you open it.

Choose what to scan

Smart Scan: recommended common cache, log, download and build locations.
Full System Scan: accessible files on your startup disk.
Custom Scan: only the folders you choose.

Scanning only reads. Protected and inaccessible locations are skipped.

In the sidebar

Smart Scan: start a Smart Scan, Full System Scan or Custom Scan.
Clean Up: review cleanup items a scan found. Nothing is selected for you.
Large Files: review large files a scan found.
Duplicates: review exact duplicates and choose which copy to keep.
Storage: review how storage is used in the locations you scanned.
Apps: review supported app bundles and move the ones you select to Recovery.
Mac Status: read-only. Mac Status does not change anything.
Recovery: inspect, restore or export held files, or delete them permanently when you decide to.
Settings, Privacy and Help: available with or without a subscription.

How Recovery works, and its limits

Recovery is a holding area, not a backup. Keep your own backups of files that matter.

Held on the original volume. Supported files move to Recovery on the volume they came from. Moving files to Recovery normally does not free disk space.
You decide what happens next. DeadStick Utilities does not delete held files on its own. You restore them, export them, or delete them permanently.
Restore depends on availability. Restoring a held file depends on that file and its volume remaining available.
Permanent deletion is final. Items you delete permanently cannot be restored by DeadStick.
Available without a subscription. Recovery, restore and export of held files stay available if your subscription ends.

Privacy

File contents, file names and scan results stay on your Mac. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no company-operated cloud service. Apple processes subscriptions. A support export is created only when you choose, and you save it locally yourself. Website logs and support email you send voluntarily are covered by the DeadStick Digital privacy policy.

Pricing

The whole suite is one auto-renewable annual subscription through Apple. Customers Apple identifies as eligible can start a 7-day free trial, then the subscription is $9.99/year (US reference price; the App Store shows your local price). It renews automatically unless canceled.

Scanning and the tools (Smart Scan, Clean Up, Large Files, Duplicates, Storage, Apps and Mac Status) need an active subscription or Apple's free trial. Recovery (restore and export of held files), Privacy, Settings and Help stay available without a subscription. The app says so on its first screen, before any scan.
