In the app

Review first. Decide later.

Scanning only reads; protected and inaccessible locations are skipped. Supported files you select move to Recovery on their original volume before you decide whether to delete them permanently. Moving files to Recovery normally does not free disk space. DeadStick Utilities has no background agent; it runs when you open it.

Smart Scan

Choose what to scan

Smart Scan (recommended common cache, log, download and build locations), Full System Scan (accessible files on your startup disk) or Custom Scan (folders you choose).

Clean Up

Cleanup review

Review cleanup items a scan found. Nothing is selected for you.

Large Files

Big items first

Review large files a scan found.

Duplicates

Exact duplicates

Review exact duplicates and choose which copy to keep.

Storage

Where the space went

Review how storage is used in the locations you scanned.

Apps

App removal

Review supported app bundles and move the ones you select to Recovery.

Mac Status

Read-only

Mac Status shows information and does not change anything.

Recovery

Holding area

Inspect, restore or export held files. Restore depends on the held file and its volume remaining available; permanently deleted items cannot be restored by DeadStick.

Subscription

What needs one

Scanning and the tools need an active subscription or Apple's free trial. Recovery (restore and export of held files), Privacy, Settings and Help stay available without one, and the app says so on its first screen before any scan.
