Document Vault

Terms of Use

These terms describe use of Document Vault, a local-first document scanner, organizer, private vault, export tool, and sync-capable document workspace.

Effective date: June 12, 2026

Product

Document Vault is provided for scanning, organizing, searching, translating, exporting, and managing documents. The current beta is provided for testing, evaluation, and feedback.

User content

Users keep ownership of the documents, scans, OCR text, translations, tags, metadata, and exports they add to Document Vault. Users are responsible for making sure they have the right to scan, store, sync, export, and share that content. Document Vault does not claim ownership of user content.

Backups and recovery

Document Vault stores content locally by default. Local-only data may be lost if the device is lost, reset, repaired, damaged, or if app data is removed. Users should keep a trusted backup, such as a Document Vault packet export or a configured cloud sync provider.

Document Vault support cannot recover a forgotten PIN or reconstruct documents that exist only on a lost or erased device. The optional app PIN controls access to the app. It is not a substitute for device security, provider account security, or separate encrypted backups.

Cloud providers

If a user enables iCloud or Google Drive, provider terms, account status, quota, network availability, and provider policies also apply. Document Vault is not responsible for outages, account lockouts, provider rate limits, provider data loss, or provider-side policy changes.

Acceptable use

Users must not use Document Vault to store, create, export, or share content in a way that violates applicable law or another person's rights. Users must not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, abuse, or bypass app security or provider systems.

No professional advice

Document Vault may help organize travel, identity, receipt, billing, contract, or expiration information. It does not provide legal, financial, tax, medical, immigration, insurance, or other professional advice. Users should verify important dates, document requirements, and legal obligations independently.

Beta limitations

The beta may contain bugs, incomplete features, unsupported file types, provider limitations, and platform-specific gaps. Release notes and the current TestFlight checklist identify known limitations for each build.

Changes and contact

These terms may change before public release or as features, platforms, account systems, and provider integrations evolve. For support, use the Document Vault support page.
